About this site

MD-Universe is a closed network of NPI-verified physicians. Members report what they earn, what their employers are like, and what their contracts say, and read the same from colleagues. It exists because that information is otherwise held by everyone except the physician.

This site is the part of it aimed at people who do not have an NPI yet. Same organisation, same intent, different audience — and no paywall, because a high schooler deciding whether to do this should not have to buy anything to find out what it involves.

• Not an admissions consultancy. Nothing is for sale here and no one is paid to say a school or programme is good.
• Not advice about your application. It is general information about a career path. Your dean’s office knows your file; we do not.
• Not a source of record. Fees, deadlines and exam formats change every cycle. Where a number would go stale, this site points at the AAMC, the NRMP or ECFMG rather than quoting a copy of it.

You do not need an account to read anything here, and that is not going to change. When accounts do arrive they will be for saving and comparing — following programmes, keeping notes across a cycle.

A student account is not a verified physician account. It is an ordinary email login for this site only, and it gives no access to anything on the physician side of MD-Universe.

That separation is deliberate and it runs deeper than a label. A student account will live in its own store, entirely apart from the physician side, so an unverified account cannot appear as a member or read anything reported in confidence by one. The promise on the other side is that every account belongs to a verified clinician, and the only way to keep a promise like that is to make breaking it structurally impossible.
